The latest release of iOS 14 (September 16th, 2020) introduced a breaking check related to photo permissions.
The good news is that there is a workaround if you encounter any issue related to photos.
- Open your phone's "Settings" app
- Scroll down and select "Mortgage"
- Select "Photos"
- Allow Photos >> All Photos
Now you can go back to the app and select the photo you like.
